Every few weeks during regular check-ins with my coach, Avery Collins,  we have long conversations about all things running. From the philosophy behind training principles to the finer points of hydration and fueling, we tend to get pretty nerdy on these calls.

I’ve often thought about turning our chats into long Q+A’s, but our conversations can get so wonky that it’s probably better to serve some of these morsels in bite-sized chunks. As part of a new recurring feature for paid subscribers here at Running, Probably, we’ll highlight interesting digressions from our many discussions.

Up first: The under-discussed, and incredibly frustrating, phenomenon of post-race weight gain.

You won’t believe how much weight Avery gains after an event.
