This week: Riding waves, strengthening feet, and setting intentions.
We’re heading down the home stretch for my race in late May with one more big week until the taper. I’ve mentioned in past Rambles that this has been the best training cycle I’ve ever had, but until recently, it’s been hard to articulate what that means.
As I look back on the last few months, I see a transformation from a dedicated runner to a serious athlete. This has been a subtle metamorphosis, so much so that it took me by surprise when I came to that revelation.
When confronted with challenges, I’ve been able to rise to the moment and perform to the best of my abilities. If I learned nothing else covering sports all these years, that’s what it means to be an athlete.
You don’t have to be elite or even fast. You just have to be willing to embrace difficult moments with courage and confidence. I know, easier said than done, but it is possible with the right mindset.
