(Note: I desperately wanted to make the sub-hed How U for the benefit of my fellow NBA heads, but Lena talked me out of it.)
A few weeks ago, I finally put the finishing touches on constructing a dream racing season for 2024. Just looking at it on paper, I’m not sure I could have picked three better events for where I am at this point in my running journey.
After The Cheap Marathon in early April, I’ll begin preparing for the Tamalpa Headlands 50K, thus fulfilling several longtime dreams while also serving as a wonderful 50th birthday present to myself. Then in late November, I’ll be toeing the line at the JFK 50, one of ultra running’s most iconic events.
By far, this is the most ambitious season I’ve ever created for myself. This plan didn’t come out of nowhere. Creating this schedule is the result of years of base building, training growth, and racing experience, all of which allowed me to feel comfortable taking on three unique challenges in one calendar year. I’m beyond stoked. Bestoked?
