Once a week, I jog over to a local gym and practice my climbing mechanics by hammering inclines on the treadmill. I approach these runs like work. There isn’t much joy to be found on the machine, but there is immense satisfaction (and an incredible training stimulus) after a job well done.
While pace is typically included as a workout variable, we’re not training for speed. Instead, we’re constructing an uphill powerhouse by stacking progressively larger inclines week after week. It’s actually incredibly fascinating from a training perspective, if not exactly super fun.
