Hello to everyone expecting to read Part 4 of the HR Series. The Zoso, if you will, of our epic deep dive into the wonders of the heart.
Believe me, I was ready to write it, but then a few things got in the way and then a few more things started happening, and before you knew it, man there were a lot of fucking things happening all at once. (Excuse the cursing. It’s been a week.)
I believe it was Mick Jagger who put it best when he sang:
Did you ever wake up to find
A day that broke up your mind
Destroyed your notion of circular time
Yep. Sure do, Mick.
So, the good news is that all of this falls under the big broad tent that is life. No one is physically hurt, dying, or about to enter the hospital with a life-threatening illness. But you know, sometimes you just gotta take a few deep breaths, find your horizon, and recenter yourself.
That’s what I’ve been doing the last week or so, and that’s what I’m going to continue to do over the long weekend. My guess is this newsletter will be back at its fully operational capacity before too long, and I have a further assumption that when it does return, it will be better than ever.
Since we haven’t talked about running yet, I’d like to close with an anecdote. One of my favorite things about coming home to New Jersey is seeing my old pal Cathy out on her run with her friend Jen. Since they are usually going one way while I’m headed in the other direction, our conversation usually goes like this:
HEY CATH!
HEY PAUL!
And that’s all we really need to catch up each summer. Just to see a familiar face still getting after it, just like you are, makes us smile every time. As luck would have it, we all happened to meet up in the parking lot at the same time, so we could have an actual conversation. I asked Cathy if she’s training for anything these days and she answered with a deep sigh that all of us know all too well.
“Just life,” she said. “That’s enough.”
It sure is. Take care of yourselves, enjoy your weekend, and RP will be back before you know it. Peace.
Can I tell you that my life has been exactly this lately. Thanks for the reminder to breathe.
With that, I've fallen behind on the HR posts and plan to catch up as soon as I catch my breath. Have a great weekend. Hopefully, you find your own time to breathe.
