Paul, having these kinds of friends, these people in your life that truly understand this thing we all love is beyond any measure. The best runs I ever had were regular weekly long runs that I did with my old running partner. It was like we were each leg one one body, her always the left, me always the right. The conversations, the pace, the synchronicity of our runs and our lives made them some of the most priceless therapy sessions I could never pay for. We lost her 22 months ago and every single step I take, every mile I go, every time I lace my shoes up...it’s so abundantly clear how important those were and are to me.
Point...never let go of these friends and Push each other out there and get as many miles together that you can.
Thank you for sharing them with us. It means more than you think.
for someone that claims to be an introvert that lives in his head a lot, you sure have many great friends, Paul. :)
while i didn't have the opportunity to keep up with my grade school friends, i am still fortunate enough to have my freshman dorm-mates from college in my life. we are in the process turning 40 this year (only 2 more left), and every 40th birthday celebration, despite the fact that it's 100% on video due to Covid, has been special (thankful for our awesome wives/SOs.. and Cameo (you know the kind)).
with slight embarrassment, i share what our thing, that is like your running, is -- it's NBA Top Shot. as NBA junkies (we have passionate, colorful discussions around deep-cuts, like "was Eddie Griffin (RIP) the prototype for a stretch 5?"), it's been fun to making an event out of opening "packs" together, praying each time that one of us ends up with a LaMelo rookie "moment."
Both things can be true, Hoon. The best friends I have for the most part are the ones I've known all my life. Good friends are so essential. Glad you have some too.

That's beautiful, Tracey. I am sorry for your loss. May her memory be a blessing, as I'm sure it is.
It certainly is.
I am so sorry for your loss, Tracey.
Nothing like the excitement before a long run. And a 14:40 5k... holy sh*t!
I said he was *really* fast. Imagine doing that on three toes.

Eddie Griffin was a tortured soul, RIP.
