Dude, I was *caked* in dirt. All the nice ladies in Lexington out walking their dogs were horrified when I ran past.

OH NO!!! Heal up real quick. If it makes you feel any better, I did half of my training for my second marathon in a full arm cast after breaking my elbow. They kept wondering why I returned multiple times for a fresh cast...I couldn't tell them it was because I was still running in it and the smell was bugging me. HAHA.

All kidding aside, I hope this is a minor detour. (I would've finished the run too. :| )

You're kind of a bad-ass!

HA! Not at all. How many times has Paul addressed the idea that sometimes we push it a little too much for not good reasons!? Looking back, I should have dialed it back, maybe just gone for walks and kept my arm in motion so to not get frozen shoulder...but literal training? I'm not the smartest. Same goes for the marathon I ran with a broken toe. I just cut a hole in my shoe and went for it. Slightly OCD and definitely NOT SMART.

Side note: I did not win the NYC Marathon lottery. I wasn't surprised. I'm looking at some charity options for NYC as a potential alternative. Did you score in the lottery?

I did not. Unfortunately. I'm a little sad but its OK. I'm aiming for London in April. I've got other races lined up for this year so I'll be busy. I'm going to enter again next year. If you'd like, I can ask the non-profit I ran for if they have bibs left for this year. The minimum is $2500.

Yea, that'd be great. What nonprofit did you run for?

I'm also pondering London for next April as well! We have some friends over there so would be fun to turn it into a longer trip around the marathon.

Hi! Yes! I have some friends over there as well. I lived in Wales for a little over a year and I haven't been back since returning to the states many years ago. So if I get it, it'll be a great opportunity to see pals and visit the old stomping grounds! My husband has never been so I'd love to take him.

I ran for my friend's parents non-profit. Its called MEF or Melanoma Education Foundation. Basically they provide programming for education and early detection of melanoma. Their youngest son passed at age 26 from it, and they founded this charity. They're absolutely lovely people. At this point in the year they may be full but I'll ask!

I was impressed and a little envious of the workout when I saw the splits on Twitter! But given the hard fall… maybe not as much now!

I keep track of my falls. I had my worst in years the day before Valentine’s Day - tripped on something and (content warning for the squeamish) ripped part of my knee on the ground. Didn’t realize how bad it was until I was washing blood off my shoes and wondering if I need stitches.

Thankfully none were needed but I lost a full 8 days of training for a May marathon - and I’m still trying to fully recover. Best wishes for the recovery and huge props for finishing out a tough workout afterwards!

damn, man. We both gotta stop falling! Good luck with your recovery/return. I'll know more tomorrow.
